Word on the Street - September 2011
Well as you may have noticed, it has been a while since we have updated this element of our website. We have had a busy enjoyable summer. Once the kids were out of school we headed out west for a road trip that took us all the way to White Rock BC through Canada and back through the northern states. Some noteable sites we took in, the Calgary Stampede, Grousse Mountain, Yellowstone National Park, The Badlands, Sturgis, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to name a few.
At Home, the kids are back to school, we are back to renovations fixing up our money pit in the country. We needed a new furnace and A/C unit to replace our conked out heat pump, no A/C through one of the hottest summers I can remember. Our Friend Andrew Green came to our rescue from Northland Plumbing and Heating 705-277-2891 and got us set up with a new Propane system. Goreski Roofing and Insulation is coming to add blown in insulation to our attic spaces. They had done the same work for us on Coastview Crt and they did a great job and were a pleasure to deal with. Other highlights of the last couple weeks was, me finding our what a good run of poison ivy can do to you- nice! We were carving out trails in the back of the property through forests and fields and inadvertently was exposed to the nasty stuff. The trails are awesome but they came with a price that is for sure!
While we were gone our listings continued to sell at a rapid pace. Sellers who follow recommended prices were always pleased with the quick results, we had many mulitple offer sales this year. The market is still moving along nicely, inventory is low and the market needs more listings. We had one extraordinary sale in July. A home in Scarborough we had listed, we received 70 I repeat 7-0 (seventy)offers after 6 days exposure to the market. That home sold for $138,000 OVER the asking price. Needless to say the seller was pleased with the results and with us. As we head into the fall market I expect things to slow slightly but interest rates will remain low. It is still a great time to buy or sell a property! Thinking of an investment property, give us a call.
Now would be a great time if you haven't already to take some pictures of the outside of your property, gardens pools front of the house etc. Last year I had thought to give this advice but didn't follow it myself. We weren't thinking of moving but in December we decided to buy the place we are in now and guess what, we had no good summer photos of our beautiful back yard on Coastview Crt. Luckily my friend could photoshop out some sunbathers from some pictures we had! Anyway, get your cameras out and take some pics before the leaves drop and the pools close! Lastly, Big News, Sutton Group Heritage has purchased the Oshawa Sutton Group Status office. Located at 286 King Street West, we are located right at King and Park, kitty corner to Teddy's. I have moved over to the Oshawa location to manage this branch office, Nicole is going to be helping out with recruiting at that location. We are excited to grow this office and expand the Sutton Brand even further across Durham Region. We now have 160 Durham agents and 200 overall including Markham Branch. Nicole and I are still selling too and will continue to get great results for our clientele. If you are in the area of the Oshawa branch please drop in and see me!
All the Best - Rick and Nic
